During the winter months (Nov-Feb), seven miles of North Shore beaches host a variety of surfing competitions with waves getting as big as 30 feet high or bigger. If you are looking for a day trip, the Polynesian Cultural Center is a 15-minute drive and will allow you to explore a 42-acre adventure park detailing the rich heritage of the Pacific Islands.
